If you are 18 years old and over you are liable to pay NHS fees, unless you are exempt. If the charge is Above £250 your dentist will need to apply for "Prior Approval" to undertake treatment. You will be given a treatment plan by your dentist.

You can get free NHS dental treatment if you are:
- aged under 18
- aged 18 and in full-time education
- nursing mother with a child under 12 months
- you are getting Income Support
- income-related Employment and Support Allowance
- Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance (incapacity Benefit
- You are entitled to, or named on, a valid NHS tax credit exemption certiﬁcate
- You are named on a valid HC2 certiﬁcate issued under the terms of the NHS Low Income Scheme
If you are not in any of these groups, but have a low income, you may still be able to get help with NHS charges.
